The SPE Aberdeen Offshore Achievement Awards (OAA)  is the biggest and longest established oil, gas and renewables industry awards for the UK offshore energy sector, covering all aspects from supply to upstream operations and offshore renewables. For over thirty years, the awards have been celebrating and encouraging innovation and collaboration in the oil and gas industry in the North Sea.

Having been shortlisted for the OAA’s ‘Outstanding Skills Development’ Award back in January, we attended the 33rd annual offshore achievement awards last Thursday (14th March 2019) and we are very happy to announce that Aquaterra Energy received this prestigious award.

The ‘Outstanding Skills Development’ category recognises work undertaken by businesses bringing new talent into the offshore, oil and gas industry, focusing on assessed development through graduate schemes and apprenticeships, collaboration with engineering bodies such as IMechE / ICE / IED as well as ECITB (Engineering Construction Industry Training Board) and other external bodies.

This is something that as a company we recognise to be very important due to the lack of younger Engineers and Technicians currently in the Offshore Engineering industry. Therefore developing and encouraging young talent through the training programmes is incredibly important to us, and something that we provide on a yearly basis, running as a two year scheme.

Other shortlisted finalists included TAQA and Bilfinger Salamis UK, and a judging panel of over 30 oil and gas professionals voted us to be the winners of this tough category. This is an amazing achievement for Aquaterra Energy and one that is a great demonstration of some of our core values.
