Why?

We’re renowned for innovation in our analysis and development of riser systems, and our High-Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) riser system is a product of that commitment to innovation. Our Dual Barrier HPHT riser system offers a light-weight, low-cost system for use from Jack-Up rigs.

We worked with Plexus POS-Grip technology to enable an inner liner to be installed inside a conventional subsea riser system to provide full 15,000 PSI HPHT capability.

  • Utilising field-proven POS-Grip technology
  • Well control string protected by outer subsea riser
  • Reduced opex via use of jack-up for subsea operations

 

Rather than increasing the pressure rating of the outer riser, POS-GRIP allows an inner casing liner to be temporarily installed, creating full HPHT capability all the way from the subsea wellhead to the surface BOP. The pressure retaining well control string is isolated from environmental conditions via an external secondary high-pressure riser conduit.

It’s run on field-proven HPHT technology utilising all metal to metal gas-tight seals. The HPHT casing liner can be either connected to the subsea wellhead casing hanger or a high-pressure POS-GRIP riser spool on top of the subsea connector. The benefits of using an Aquaterra Energy HPHT riser system include:

  • Safe effective drilling, completion, workover and abandonment activities to be completed on subsea wells via a jack-up rig
  • Provides a structurally sound, pressure retaining conduit
  • Capable of withstanding environmental and operational conditions expected during the full HPHT service life
  • Allows jack-up drilled HPHT exploration well to be converted into producers (via subsea completion)
