The Solution

Aquaterra’s retrievable fibre optic gyroscope system can be fitted to virtually any piece of subsea equipment when orientation and inclination are important. The ‘state-of-the-art’ gyroscope provides precise real-time positional data about your equipment direct to surface, allowing accurate orientation and positioning of drilling templates, guide bases, xmas trees, protective structures etc.

Fibre optic gyroscopes very accurately measure orientation relative to true north and inclination relative to the horizontal. They require no moving parts and are quick and simple to calibrate, unlike older ‘ring laser’ and ‘spinning mass’ style gyros. This makes them highly reliable and allows a very short set up time offshore.

A retrievable bracket design allows the gyroscope to be recovered to surface as soon as its job is complete so that the rental duration can be minimised.
