The Solution
Vortex Suppression can be achieved by:
- Delaying or preventing separation and therefore reducing the number of vortices produced.
- Reducing the possibility of resonance and hence reducing the fatigue damage the riser experiences.
- Filling the wake region, which eliminates the adverse pressure gradient.
- Disturbing the flow and preventing the alternate vortex shredding motion.
