Aquaterra's centraliser success
Aquaterra Energy has undertaken a vast number of conductor and casing centraliser projects since its inception in 2005 and has become a leading global supplier of centraliser products.
From these projects, Aquaterra has recognised that throughout the North Sea there are numerous mature assets; many of which have been in situ for more than 10 years. The long lives of these assets can lead to conductor centralisers exceeding their design life or failing prematurely.
In these instances Aquaterra Energy has worked with major operators to retrofit various types of centraliser to restrict conductor movement, which has occurred due to failed centralisers.
Aquaterra Energy has extensive experience in the design, manufacture and installation of centralisers. This experience allows Aquaterra to give customers the optimum centraliser for their requirements. Centralisers can be designed to fit in around pre-existing equipment. Standard retrofit centralisers are used when the conductor is already in place and the centraliser is to be subsequently installed.
Adjustable segment centralisers are used when an original centraliser is still located in the guide and cannot be removed. Segments are slotted in the guide around the existing centraliser and conductor, and adjusted to close the gap. If the failed equipment can be removed from the guide retrofit centralisers can be installed. Centralisers need to be designed accurately to avoid premature failure or damage of the conductor, casing or jacket guides.
Aquaterra Energy’s experienced offshore team is readily available to complete surveys to determine the equipment required and install the centralisers once manufactured. This can be completed either on deck level or at splash zone utilising a rope access team.
