Tullow Oil – Hewett Rotliegendes Project
Aquaterra Energy has recently completed a significant structural project for Tullow Oil on the Hewett 48/29A platform in the Southern North Sea. Tullow Oil initially asked Aquaterra Energy to review the feasibility of installing an additional well on this 40 Year old platform. A proposal was identified and Aquaterra Energy were awarded the contract to project manage the structural element of the work.
Aquaterra Energy developed a scheme to effectively create a new well slot through the platform. This involved significant structural modifications to the topsides and the addition of conductor guides within both the topsides and the jacket structures.
Aquaterra Energy's scope of work comprised project management from design and onshore fabrication through to offshore installation. KSD (Fabrication) Ltd were selected as the fabrication and installation contractor.
The project was seen as a great success and Aquaterra Energy now hope to attract other similar "well slot creation" projects and other Brownfield modification projects.
Drilling of the new well is scheduled to commence shortly.
Encouraging words from Tullow Oil:
Q. Is your general view of Aquaterra Energy Ltd's performance such that you will provide them with the opportunity to do business with you in future?
A. "Yes – definitely"
Q. Any helpful comments?
A. "We have had excellent service with no surprises from Aquaterra on this project – construction of a new platform conductor slot, and carrying out an associated tricky sub-sea structural survey. The scope was from original concept to finished product and included design, managing 3rd party fabrication, logistics and installation. We have seen thorough, detailed engineering delivered professionally, on time and within budget. I have recommended them to all my engineering colleagues within Tullow and to friends in other companies. Top class. Dave Rowson who was project manager and Peter Flint who managed the offshore scope were both excellent. It's refreshing to work with such professional people."
