Aquaterra gets arty!
Aquaterra Energy Ltd is sponsoring two art exhibitions in Norwich over the coming months.
The first, an exhibition of paintings by Michael Sanders entitled ‘From Cote d’Azur to Blakeney Point’, will be held at Mandell’s Gallery on Elm Hill in Norwich from 16th March – 10th April 2010.
Sanders has had a longstanding love of North Norfolk, where he now has a studio. He is well known for his depictions of skies, water and landscapes, capturing the unique local scenery. The exhibition will be his first show at Mandell’s gallery in over ten years.
Aquaterra Energy will be hosting a private viewing at the gallery on Thursday 25th March in appreciation for the art on display and to raise funds for the Wells-next-the-Sea and Great Yarmouth and Gorleston RNLI Lifeboat Stations. Fundraising is vital to the lifeboat services as the Royal National Lifeboat Institution receives no financial assistance from the UK Government.
The second exhibition, entitled ‘Beatles to Bowie: the 60s exposed’ will run from 7th May – 5th September at Norwich Castle Museum. This exhibition, first shown in the National Portrait Gallery in London, explores leading pop personalities who helped create ‘Swinging London’ in the 60s. It consists of a collection of over 150 photographs taken by leading photographers such as David Bailey together with various pop related memorabilia. Amongst the artists featured are well known acts such as The Shadows, Billy Fury, The Kinks, The Who, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
The exhibition shows the development of pop music and culture from pure pop to psychedelia and the birth of progressive music and their lasting impact today.
Aquaterra Energy Ltd’s Chairman, Mark Boyd, said “We are proud to be associated with these two exhibitions and are happy that an East Anglian based international business like Aquaterra is able to foster its links with Norfolk in this way.”
