Aquaterra Energy Ltd is a dynamic offshore engineering company providing products and services to the international offshore oil and gas industry.

Since the company was founded in July 2005 by oil and gas veteran Mark Boyd, Aquaterra has rapidly expanded to a team of over 90 full time staff and has provided services to more than 85 customers in over 25 countries worldwide.

The company has quickly gained a reputation for providing clients with cutting edge cost effective engineering solutions to a range of drilling rig or platform related issues and requirements.

Aquaterra Energy’s focus is on three main business streams: Well Support Services, Field Development and Asset Enhancement. The Well Support Services division provides products and services to nearly all offshore well construction activities, focusing on Conductor & Riser Products, Pre-Drill and Re-Entry and Rig Products. For successful development of new offshore gas fields, the Field Development department focus on Platforms, Pipeline Commissioning and Hook-up and Commissioning. Finally, to enhance and extend the life of your valuable asset, the Asset Enhancement team specialise in Conductor Slot Recovery and Addition, Retrofit Conductor Guides and Riser Systems, Jacket Integrity and Platform Upgrades.

The Research & Development department are continually exploring new innovations to help make rig operations quicker, safer and more economical. Many inventive products have been developed, which include, hydraulically operated splash zone centralisers for the North Sea which are operated from surface, abandoning the need for rope access teams. In 2010 we introduced a ‘world’s first’ High Pressure Riser System using Merlin Connectors instead of flanged connections which was quickly contracted to BP and Apache. Following the success of Aquaterra’s PDQ Drill String Connector, a small diameter PDQ II tool was designed to save further rig time when connecting large O/D tools below the rig floor.

Aquaterra has developed many innovative techniques related to the company’s minimum facility Sea Swift platforms and has been granted three patents related to its use and installation. The first Sea Swift rig installed platform was successfully installed in Autumn 2007 and further installations took place during 2008. We have also developed a strong reputation for the provision of Riser Analysis and this area of capability has been developed to include the supply of specialised tensioning equipment for clients internationally.

Aquaterra has bases in Norwich, Aberdeen and Cambridge in the UK and representation worldwide. The company’s international success was recognised in April 2009, receiving a Queen’s Award for International Trade. More than 90% of turnover has been attained from exports and the national recognition of a Queen’s Award confirms Aquaterra as a leading and dependable supplier to the international oil and gas industry. Our international success was again commended in 2010 when we won the EDP International Enterprise Award and the Business of the Year 2010 which saw competition from fellow Eastern UK businesses from all sectors.

Aquaterra Energy has quickly built a reputable name for itself with an extensive list of products and services available to rent and buy. This impressive portfolio is matched with an experienced, knowledgeable and dynamic workforce.
