Aquaterra Energy Ltd is a dynamic offshore engineering company based in Norwich, Norfolk in the UK. The company was established in July 2005 by oil and gas veteran Mark Boyd.

Aquaterra Energy has expanded rapidly to a current team of over 70 full time staff and has achieved sales in excess of $80 million since its formation, providing services to over 65 customers in over 25 countries worldwide. Committed to providing top quality services to the international offshore oil and gas industry, Aquaterra also ensures it plays a significant and responsible role towards its employees and also within the local economy.

In early 2007 Aquaterra purchased over 10,000 sq ft of modern office accommodation near to Norwich International Airport to assist in its planned expansion over the next few years. In the summer of 2009 a small base was established in Aberdeen to service Aquaterra's strong and valued client base in Scotland.

Aquaterra achieved ISO 9001 accreditation within months of start up and in 2009 achieved ISO 14001 certification after developing a sustainable environmental policy.

Its contribution to the local economy was recognised in late 2007 with the prestigious Eastern Daily Press "Best New Business of 2007" award.

Aquaterra's international success was recognised in April 2009, receiving a Queen's Award for International Trade. More than 90% of turnover has been attained from exports and the national recognition of a Queen’s Award confirms Aquaterra’s establishment as a leading and dependable supplier to the international oil and gas industry.

Aquaterra Energy rapidly recognised the lack of younger engineers and technicians currently working within the offshore industry and the skills shortage that exists within it. It has undertaken to develop and encourage young engineering talent through an undergraduate Summer Placement Scheme and a Graduate Training Programme.

In addition, Aquaterra has worked with a local school for the past three years to lead keen students through an engineering project, providing them with an insight into the industry. Aquaterra also employs a bursary scheme to identify talented local students to sponsor through University engineering degree courses.

The Company has quickly gained a reputation for providing clients with reliable and economical engineering solutions. The first Sea Swift rig installed platform unit was successfully installed in Autumn 2007 and further installations took place during 2008. Aquaterra has developed many innovative techniques related to these structures and has filed seven patents related to its design and usage.

Amongst the other varied work Aquaterra has executed is template supply worldwide including an 11 slot unit installed in North Africa; specialised centraliser and VIV suppression devices supplied to operators in the West African, Mediterranean and Far Eastern sectors.

Aquaterra Energy has developed a strong reputation for the provision of Riser Analysis and this area of capability has been developed to include the supply of specialised tensioning equipment for clients internationally.

In 2009 Aquaterra took its first step into the renewable sector, commissioning a system to assist with the installation of transition pieces on the Greater Gabbard wind farm in the North Sea. Aquaterra has acquired an office at East Anglia's renewable centre, OrbisEnergy, to increase the company's expsoure and presence in the renewable sector.

Aquaterra Energy's core business activities comprise, amongst others, Subsea Templates, Tieback Engineering, Conductor Centralisers, VIV Suppression Systems, Riser Analysis, Riser Tensioning systems, Slot Recovery/Additional Slot Provision, Cement Top Up and Subsea Camera Systems.
